When Aspire of WNY decided to embark on a workplace improvement process, it was a new experience for their teams. Most staff members had never participated in workplace surveys before. Working with Amazing Workplace, Aspire of WNY doubled the percentage of employees participating in the Employee Happiness Survey from the first survey to the second.

  • Challenge
    Aspire of WNY has more than 1,500 employees who work in every setting, from facilities and schools to group homes and individual direct support. Staff are busy focusing on the needs of the individuals they serve, and when the initiative began they weren’t accustomed to using surveys.Most employees at Aspire of WNY do not have their own computers, and often have limited contact with direct supervisors. Many would not be familiar with anonymous feedback systems, leaving them worried whether their responses would identify them.
  • Solution
    Amazing Workplace guided the Aspire of WNY Human Resources Team in preparing staff for employee happiness surveys, emphasizing the ease of completing it and explaining how responses are kept anonymous. The first survey was launched by email, and it was a success in bringing out great employee feedback and actionable insights, but the Aspire team wanted to get many more employees participating.Between the first and second survey, Aspire followed up with employees about their feedback, strengthening their sense of investment in the process. Amazing Workplace and Aspire set up the second survey to get directly employees’ mobile phones. A communication campaign prepared everyone for the next survey. Invitations went to participants through both text and email, and they could begin the survey with a single click.

Results/Impact

The number of participants doubled, with results showing meaningful and actionable insights across a wider population. Aspire had much better data on Direct Support Professionals who tend to work alone most of the time and are often hard to get feedback from.
